On my desk at home I have something that looks like a mini desk calendar but it’s not. It’s called The Daily Mood. Instead of weeks or months each page represents a mood. It used to sit on my desk where I used to work and generally I had it turned to pages like these:
When I was told I was being made redundant I flipped it to this mood and left it there for my final three months:
Today I had a job interview. I screwed my courage to the sticking place and I did not fail. I got offered the job and I start on Monday, subject to a few formalities.
I’ve been particularly picky about applying for jobs, struggling to find something for which I was qualified, that paid enough money and that would make me want to get up in the mornings. I’d harboured a desire to work in education, doing something that had a positive impact on others and that wasn’t based around lining the pockets of shareholders and directors. I wanted to work somewhere inspiring and somewhere of which I could be especially proud.
My new job is an administrative role in a school. I obviously can’t give details but what I can say is that this is an especially important school and one that will hopefully provide me with inspiration and job satisfaction for years to come.
I don’t think I’ll be taking my mood “calendar” to my new place of work but I am currently:

It’s going to be a challenge but I’m always up for that. I’m just so happy that I’ll be working somewhere that really matters. Still can’t believe it, it’s all happened very quickly. I only posted the application a week ago yesterday! Thanks for the hugs. I think I need them!

Congrats Kathryn. I do like that mood calendar though. I’m a big believer in going for the job that matters, that you really like and that makes a difference whenever possible so good for you. It isn’t often these days that we can actually get that sort of job.

Thanks. I love the mood calendar too. It was a source of great hilarity in my last job. Several of us had them. One of the moods that I left off this post is mischevious. That was often very apt 😉

Congratulations again, Kathryn! I love your little calendar and all its moods. It seems to have more moods than I do as I’m probably usually stuck between Puzzled and Wonky 🙂

Thank you! The blog won’t be going anywhere. I love my blog and I enjoy writing it. I blogged before when I was working, not as much admittedly, but now I have a better idea what I like to write about so not about to stop anytime soon. Very flattered that my little blog is a favourite of yours!

So happy that you have a job again, Kathryn! If you will be working at a school with younger children they can be such joy ( the students where I work are ages 8- 11) hard to stay down when your around them.

Congratulations Kathyrn! What a wonderful early Christmas present. I’m impressed that there were only 10 days between job application and job start. That way there’s less fretting and stress.
(PS I’m still job searching. One rejection this week but another application in the pipeline. I remain hopeful…)
